How to make slime

Slime is a trend that just keeps growing in popularity. Here are a few different recipes that will allow you and your kids to make all kinds of ooey-gooey slime at home.

Glue-based slime


  • 120ml warm water
  • 120ml of Elmer’s glue
  • Borax
  • Food colouring


  • Mix the water and glue in a glass bowl
  • Add food colouring and mix again
  • Add a teaspoon of borax into a 1/2 cup of water, mix it up and add it to your mixture
  • Finally, knead the mixture until it holds together and you have the slimy consistency that you’re looking for.

Borax-Free Slime


  • 180ml glue
  • Baking soda
  • 90ml contact lens solution


  • Mix the glue, a pinch of baking soda and the contact lens solution (to be added slowly) in a glass bowl
  • Knead until you have the consistency you want

Fluffy Slime


  • 180ml glue
  • 90ml shaving cream
  • 90ml contact lens solution


  • Mix the glue, shaving cream and contact solution together in a glass bowl
  • Squish and knead it together until you get the fluffy consistency you’re wanting

Clear Slime


  • 60ml Clear PVA solution
  • 30g Borax
  • Food colouring


  • Mix the Borax and PVA together in a plastic cup
  • Add your food colouring to the mix once you have your slime

Glitter Slime


  • 1/2 cup of glitter glue
  • 1/2 cup of liquid starch
  • 1/2 cup of water


  • Add your glue, starch and water to your mixing bowl
  • Stir it up until you have your beautiful, glittery slime
