Too many books, too little time. This doesn’t have to be the case. You might have a pile of unread books that you’re just dying to read and you feel like you’re just not making a dent. Here are a few ways to read more books and get through that TBR.
DNF!
Life is way too short to waste your time reading books that you don’t enjoy. Stop feeling guilty or compelled to finish a book that you’re not enjoying. Kick it to the curb, give it a one star rating and move on to the next.
Read every day
Even during times when you are really busy, squeeze in at least 10 – 50 pages a day.
Listen to audiobooks
Switch it up every now and then and listen to an audiobook.
Stop reading tomes!
If you have a busy schedule or tend to read slowly, stick to books that are around 300 pages long. The more you read the more you reading pace will increase. It comes with practice. Start off easy before throwing yourself into the deep end.
Physical vs. Ebooks
Figure out which medium works for you. A lot of people find that they can get through a physical book faster than their digital counterparts.
Genres
Find a genre of books that really stimulates you. At the same time, it’s important to broaden your horizons once in a while so that you don’t get stuck in a cycle, seeing the same old tropes over and over again.
Goodreads
Don’t waste any more time. Get yourself an account on Goodreads. It’s a great way to keep track of what you’re reading, what you’d like to read and what you’d prefer to avoid. The site is also home to an incredibly supportive community of fellow bookworms who will inspire you and make reading an even greater joy than you ever imagined.
