Peugeot has launched its new sports utility vehicle (SUV) in the African market. The all-new 3008 has been a popular choice for buyers since the original model was released in 2016. The new 2021 vehicle has been fully overhauled and sports a modern, sleek and stylish look, both on the exterior and interior. The Peugeot 3008 is an entrancing embodiment of modernity.
Its unique, frameless grille with elongated LED light bars extending below the headlights, along with a deluxe interior, creates a vehicle that will rival the more expensive SUVs on the market. The rear of the 3008 exhibits tail lights that look like they belong on a Mustang. The French car brand’s return to Africa has provided an exciting opportunity to see locally manufactured parts perform well on a world-class vehicle.
Peugeot 3008 sports new technology
The Peugeot 3008 illustrates new technology through its LED headlamps. Not only do they have an individualist look, but they make use of a light-bending function, dubbed ‘EVS’. This allows for a safer journey when travelling at night, as the beams can bend slightly around corners to enhance sight in the dark.
The 3008 is fitted with the latest driving aid technology, such as fog mode, which switches the lights onto low beam for better visibility when driving through fog and mist. High beams simply light up the fog and render the driver blind. The 3008 also features adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking and collision risk warning.
The Peugeot i-Cockpit will also be installed in the new SUV. This is an exclusive display headset and a 10-inch touchscreen that functions as an infotainment system and a centralised control panel. This will help the vehicle’s functionality and make driving a pleasure.
The new 3008 gets a refined engine
The 2021 model is fitted with Peuget’s plucky 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine that puts out 121kw and 240Nm of torque. This is coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission. Consequently, the SUV will accelerate to 100km/h in 8.9 seconds and has a fuel economy of seven-litres per 100km.
The 3008 will be available in three trim levels – Allure, Active and GT – which tailors certain aspects to different customers. These could be off-road adventurers, those who like a more comfortable journey or drivers that fancy a bit of a rush. On the whole, the new Peugeot 3008 will attract many Africans who are in need of a more capable, modern and safe SUV.
